The St. Charles Streetcar in New OrleansAll aboard for a trip into New Orleans' past on the oldest continuously operating streetcar in the world! The mahogany seats, brass fittings and exposed ceiling light bulbs are from a day when plastic seats and aluminum rails were not even a thought. Rumbling around the ''neutral ground'' of St. Charles Avenue and Carrollton Avenue for more than 150 years, the streetcar symbolizes the charm and romance of the City of New Orleans.  The route traditionally forms a 13.2-mile crescent from Carondelet at Canal Street in the Central Business District through the oldest and most majestic section of uptown New Orleans, around the Riverbend to Carrollton at Claiborne Avenue. Swaying along St. Charles Avenue through a tunnel Live Oaks, the streetcar passes dozens of antebellum mansions, historic monuments, Loyola and Tulane universities, the sweeping grounds of the Audubon Zoological Gardens, shopping centers, fine restaurants and hotels.

12:00 PM – 5:00 PM             French Quarter

The French Quarter, also known as Vieux Carré - or the “Quarter” to locals, sits on a crescent in the Mississippi River on some of the highest ground in New Orleans. Not only is this is city’s cultural hub, but is a community where residents take time to reminisce with neighbors about times gone by and to welcome visitors in the streets. Visitors can obtain an inside look at Vieux Carre’s architectural gems by going on home tours offered throughout the year. Around the bend of every corner you may find a eclectic shopping destination, delicious restaurant, or history museum. Browse the treasure trove at the French Market, shade yourself in Jackson Square, and munch on a muffellata at Jackson Grocery.

Harrahs Casino

Harrah's New Orleans is a casino located in New Orleans, Louisiana near the foot of Canal Street a block away from the Mississippi River. It is a 115,000 sq ft (10,700 m2) casino with approximately 2,100 slot machines, over 90 table games and a poker room.[1] There are several places to eat ranging from buffet style to fine dining. Since its opening in 1999 Harrah's has been renting nearby hotel rooms to accommodate its guests; currently, the newly-renovated 202-room Wyndham Riverfront Hotel is providing such accommodations. In order to avoid leasing rooms, the casino opened its own 27-story hotel tower with 450 rooms across the street from the casino on September 21, 2006 just days ahead of the New Orleans Saints return to the Louisiana Superdome. It is the only land-based private casino with table games in the state by Louisiana law (there are other casinos in the state with their gambling facilities on floating boats and horse racing racinos with slot machines). It is referred to in state statute as "the official gaming establishment", see Chp.10, Title 4 of Louisiana Revised Statutes. The casino shut down in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but reopened in the midst of Mardi Gras on February 17, 2006.  The location of the casino was most recently previously the site of the Rivergate Convention Center, demolished in 1995. A short tunnel built as part of the canceled Vieux Carré Riverfront Expressway is used for valet parking and for an entrance passing underneath Poydras Street.

Riverwalk Market Place

Once the site of the 1984 Louisiana Worlds' Fair, Riverwalk Marketplace opened in 1986 and this year is celebrating 20 years as one of the top visitor attractions in New Orleans. Riverwalk Marketplace features amazing shopping in a setting that overlooks the beautiful Mississippi River.  From a fabulous collection of local merchants selling scenes from New Orleans and creative keepsakes, to nationally known stores like Brookstone, Nine West, Foot Locker and The Body Shop, to great food options like Café du Monde's world famous beignets (hot French doughnuts), sushi, Mexican and Italian food, the flavor of New Orleans is everywhere at the Riverwalk. This unique collection of 140 shops and eateries is located on the downtown New Orleans riverfront, at the foot of Canal, Poydras and Julia Streets, across the street from Harrah's Casino and adjacent to the Hilton Hotel.
